Before you start

• Find out which Google account is on your phone. Open the Play Store app and tap your profile picture in the top right. The email shown there is the one to use.
• Have that phone with you. The last three steps happen on the phone.
• Set aside about five minutes, plus a wait for one email.

The steps

1. Fill out the early access form

   • Go to the 7xBible home page and tap Join Android Early Access.
   • Type your first name and last name.
   • For Google account email, type the address you found above. This is the one that matters. If you use a different address here, nothing later in this guide will work.
   • Tick the consent box at the bottom.
   • Tap Send application.

   Done when you see green text saying “Your request was received. An email should arrive soon. Processing may take up to 24 hours.”

   One application per store account. If someone else's phone uses a different Google account, they fill out their own form with their own address.

2. Wait for the email from 7X

   • It comes from Matthew from 7X (hello at 7xbible dot com).
   • The subject is Your 7X Android early access.
   • It usually arrives within a few minutes, but give it up to 24 hours. If it is not there, look in Spam and Promotions.
   • Open the email on your Android phone. Then the links open straight in the Play Store app instead of a desktop browser.

3. Join the testing group (email step 1)

   • In the email, tap Link to your Google Group.
   • Google Groups opens at groups.google.com/g/calvary-youth-7x-bible-app.
   • Check the profile circle in the top right. It must be the same Google account you put on the form. If it is not, switch accounts first.
   • Tap Join group. Any email-delivery option it offers is fine.

   Done when the Join group button is gone and you can see the group's page as a member.

   Google usually sends a confirmation email as well. It looks like this:

   You can visit the group, change how you get email, or leave the group at any time.

   Make sure you really joined. Open groups.google.com, tap My groups, and look for calvary-youth-7x-bible-app in the list. If it is not there, you are not in the group yet. Go back to the link in the email and tap Join group again.

   Do not skip this step. The testing list on Google Play is this group. Until you are a member, the next step will not work.

4. Opt in to the test (email step 2)

   • Back in the email, tap Your Play Store Opt-in Link.
   • A page opens at play.google.com/apps/testing/com.sevenxbible.app. Again, make sure you are signed in with the same Google account.
   • Tap Become a tester.

   Done when the page says you are a tester and shows a link to download the app on Google Play.

   If the page says the test is not available or that you are not on the tester list, your group membership has not caught up yet. Wait a few minutes, reload the page, and try again. If it still fails, go back to step 3 and check you are in the group.

5. Install 7X from the Play Store (email step 3)

   • Tap Install 7X in the email, or the download link on the opt-in page. Both go to play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sevenxbible.app.
   • On your phone this opens the Play Store app. Tap Install.

   Searching the Play Store will not find 7X. Apps in a closed test never show up in search. You have to use the link. Keep the email, or bookmark that link.

   If Play says the app is not available for your device or account, you are either signed in with a different Google account, or your tester status has not reached the Play Store yet. Switch accounts if needed, then wait and reload. Google can take a few hours.

6. Set your password and sign in (email steps 4 and 5)

   • New to 7X? Tap Set your 7X password in the email and choose a password. That link works once. If it has expired, use Send a new link or the password reset link on the app's login screen.
   • Already have a 7X account? Your email has no password step. Use the password you already have.
   • Open 7X on your phone and sign in with the same email you put on the form.

   Done when you are signed in and today's lesson is on screen.

Quick check

You are set up correctly when all of these are true:

• You applied with the Google account email that is on your phone.
• The email from 7X arrived, subject “Your 7X Android early access”.
• calvary-youth-7x-bible-app is listed under My groups on groups.google.com.
• The opt-in page says you are a tester.
• The Play Store shows an Install button for 7X, not an error.
• You can sign in to the app with the email you submitted.

If you get stuck

The 7X email never arrived.

Check Spam and Promotions first. After 24 hours, fill out the form again with the same email address. Sending it twice does no harm.

I have several Google accounts on my phone.

Only the account you are signed into in the Play Store matters. Use that address on the form, join the group with it, and opt in with it. Mixing accounts is the most common reason the app never appears.

I clicked the opt-in link but it says the page is not found.

That is the group membership not being in place. Do step 3 first, confirm the group is under My groups, then come back.

I used the wrong email on the form.

Just fill out the form again with the right address. The old application can be ignored.

Something else.
